Eligibility Criteria

Academic level

Students must be enrolled in an HEC-recognized public sector university or college in any of the following programs: - Undergraduate (4 or 5 years) - Graduate (2 years) - Postgraduate (MS/MPhil/PhD) - DAE (3 years)

Academic performance

Students must have secured at least 60% marks or 2.5 CGPA in their last annual or semester examination.

Enrollment status

Students must be regular students of their respective institutions and not distance learners or private candidates.

Age limit

Students must not be more than 25 years of age for undergraduate programs, 30 years for graduate programs, and 35 years for postgraduate programs.

Previous award

Students must not have received a laptop under any previous PM Laptop Scheme or any other federal or provincial government scheme. 

The scheme has a merit list that is generated based on the academic performance and enrollment status of the applicants. The merit list is displayed on the HEC website and the respective institutions' websites.

The scheme has a distribution process that involves verification of the applicants' documents and biometric verification of their identity. The laptops are then handed over to the students at their respective institutions or regional centers.

The scheme has been re-launched by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Friday, December 17, 2023, in Islamabad.
