SPECIAL EQUIVALENCE EXAMINATION FOR LAW GRADUATES FROM FOREIGN UNIVERSITY

A PRE-REQUISITE TEST TO APPEAR IN THE BAR ENTRANCE TEST (LAW GAT)


The Higher Education Commission (HEC), Pakistan is conducting a Special Equivalence Examination for Law graduates (SEE-Law) of foreign universities as per the direction of the Honorable Supreme Court vide its order dated March 06, 2018, and judgment dated August 31, 2018 passed in C.P134/2012 “Pakistan Bar Council Vs Federation and others" and as required under the Pakistan Bar Council (PBC) legal! Education Rules, 2015.

Law graduates of foreign Universities / Institutions, recognized by HEC/PBC, are required to pass the SEE Law test before appearing in the Law Graduate Assessment Test (LAW-GAT) which is mandatory to apply to the Bar Council for enrolment as an advocate. Online applications are invited from desirous law graduates who have obtained their law degrees from HEC/PBC-recognized foreign universities/ institutions. 

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA: 

Law graduates from a foreign university/ institution recognized by HEC/ PBC are eligible to apply. Curriculum of Special Equivalence Examination (SEE LAW)

Special Equivalence Examination (SEE Law) will be held as per the approved syllabus available at 

Hec Law Gat Equivalence Test

TEST TYPE: 

The test will be based on Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs) only. 

DATE OF EXAMINATION: 


The SEE-Law will tentatively be held on December 17th, 2023. Any change in test date, due to unavoidable circumstances, shall be communicated to Candidates through www.hec.gov.pk and http://etc.hec.gov.pk Applicants who register through the HEC (ETC) online registration process will be able to download their Roll Number Stips from http://etc.hec.gov.pk and same shall also be sent on their registered email address, a week before the test date.

Email/ SMS will be sent to the registered applicants for the examination date, time, and venue. 

Candidates are required to provide a valid email/ mobile number while filling out their online application forms. «= Aprint of Rolf Number Slip and Original CNIC will be required to enter the Test Centre on the Test Day, 

DETAIL OF EXAMINATION CENTRES: 

The test will be conducted in the federal and provincial capitals. Applicants may select an examination center from the list available in the application form. 

Once selected, the center will not be changed. 

HOW TO REGISTER:

Only SUBMITTED applications will be considered for SEE Law Test and applications in SAVE or INCOMPLETE mode will not be entertained. 

Test Fee

Test Fee of Rs. 5000/is to be deposited via 1Link Bill Invoice participating Banks/ATMs/Internet Banking/Mobile Banking/Easypaisa/JazzCash/Upaisa. 


Once you have selected 1link 1bill Invoice payment service, open /sign in to your mobile app and click on Bill payment or payment services (as per your mobile banking app options). 

Click on 1Bill invoice payment services and enter the consumer number generated by the ETC portal. Once you see the details, pay the amount. 

After depositing the fee through link 1Bill Invoice, click on Verify Online Payment on the ETC Dashboard 

The test fee is non-refundable and non-transferable. 

The candidates must get their queries/complaints resolved before the closure of the web registration portal. Queries/complaints handling beyond the registration deadline is denied by the system due to logistics/security reasons. 

Note: Taking a mobile or any calculating, recording, or imaging electronic device inside the test center, as well as uploading or sharing the images of the question book is strictly prohibited and an offense liable to punishment as per the ETC rules.

Other Requirements/ Conditions: 


A 50% score is required to qualify for the Special Equivalence Examination (SEE-Law) as specified by PBC. 


Applicants will have to meet other criteria, if any, as per the Rules and regulations of the Pakistan Bar Council. 

Applicants will have a maximum of five chances to clear the examination. HEC will conduct the examination twice a year or on a quarterly basis as needed.
